The Lafayette High School Professional Development Partnership builds upon International Network of Public Schools’ successful history and strong track record of success with high levels of student achievement for students newly arrived in the United States. In its decision to launch an international high school, SUNY Buffalo State and Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) seek to improve the achievement, graduation rates, and college readiness of a growing segment of the BPS population using key elements of Internationals’ innovative instructional, structural and professional development approach.
This project consists of two closely interconnected strands: (1) professional development and capacity‐building for the proposed high school faculty and administrators to incorporate Internationals’ proven effective instructional strategies for working with English Language Learners at the secondary level, and (2) planning, leadership development, coaching and feedback to support the creation of a sustainable school model with targeted planning.
